A: The Jetstik is $1,795.00 USD and it Includes in the kit: a Jetstik, 25’ of hose bundle, hardhat with hearing protectors and face shield, propane regulator, a striker and Instructions. The 48" model includes all the same equipment as the smaller model, for $1,895.00.

A: No, you can get those from you local gas supplier.

Q: How long do the tanks last?TOP
A: A standard Green “T” cylinder of Oxygen will run for about 45 minutes of use and cost about $26.00 to refill. In that amount of time you can surface about 68 sqft of granite. We recommend that if you are going to use it on a daily basis, that you purchase Liquid Oxygen and draw off the the Oxygen gas from it. This allows you to buy in a larger quantity for a better price. A 4500 ft3 tank will last about 10-12 hours and cost about $122.00 to refill. A 100 lb tank of Propane will last about 5-8 hours.

A: The cost per hour can vary from $10/ hr - $34/ hr depending on whether you use Liquid Oxygen tanks or “T” cylinder Oxygen tanks.

A: No, the Jetstik is built specifically for the use of Propane and Oxygen in order to give it the optimum performance needed.

A: The Jetstik will surface granite at one and a half sqft / min.

Q: What are the four hoses for?TOP
A: The black hose is for Propane, the green hose is for Oxygen, one blue hose feeds
water into the stick and water circulates through the tip and comes back out through the second blue hose, aka “the discharge hose”.

Q: How does it work?TOP
A: The Oxygen and Propane internally combust to create a flame that is 5000ºF at which point it is then liquid cooled with water causing the flame to come out at 3500ºF at a rate of 5000 feet per second. This rapid transfer of intense heat into the surface of the stone causes the quartz minerals in the stone to rapidly expand and pop out of its place setting, a reaction known as spalling, leaving you with a textured thermal finish without overheating or fracturing the stone.

Q: What is the difference between the Jetstik and a Rosebud or an Acetylene torch?TOP
A: The Jetstik is an internally combusted flame as opposed to an externally combusted flame, giving a lot more velocity and rapid transfer of heat than other common torches. Also, a Rosebud or Acetylene may get too hot for the stone causing more frequent fractures. The Jetstik allows for better control and consistency.

Q: Do I need a different tip for doing different work?TOP
A: No, the Jetstik is set up for optimum performance for all different type of applications.

Q: How long before I have to replace parts on the Jetstik?TOP
A: The Jetstik is made up of a stainless steel shaft and an anodized aluminum handle. It was built for heavy duty use and will out last any other torch.

Q: How loud is it?TOP
A: It is about 90-100 decibels, be sure to always wear hearing protection.

Q: Can I flame the edge of a piece of stone?TOP
A: Yes, the Jetstik was originally designed to thermal the edges of 3/4” facade panels once they were on the job site because the conveyor flamers were unable to flame the edges. The Jetstik is capable of flaming the edges while maintaining the integrity of the edge.

Q: Will the Jetstik flame edges that are glued together?TOP
A: Due to the varying types of bonding materials this has not been tested, but it is my strong belief, because of the rapid transfer of heat, that if you move over the surface quick enough it should not interrupt the bonding material. It always best to try this on a scrap piece of material before actually trying it on your finished product.

Q: Is there a way of masking off an area to flame?TOP
A: Yes, you can use a 1/2” or greater thickness of steel laid onto the stone and flame away from the steel.

Q: Will this flame Marble?TOP
A: No, it will just heat and burn the Marble because it is a calcite stone.

Q: What types of stone will it flame?TOP
A: The Jetstik will work on all granites, bluestones, sandstone, quartzite, and some dolomitic limestones.

Q: Can you carve with the Jetstik?TOP
A: Yes, the Jetstik is very popular with stone carvers. It is a great tool for removing saw cuts or shaping the sculpture to its final piece. Although you cannot carve letters with the Jetstik like sandblasting can. It is not made for intricate detail.

Q: Can you flame concrete or synthetic stone material?TOP
A: No, the Jetstik has a tendency to burn or melt concrete or synthetic stone. However if the engineered stone contains a quartz composition then it may possibly flame. It is always good to test on a scrap piece first. Also, you may mail us a sample of your stone and we can try and flame it for you to see if it works.

Q: Is it the water that causes the spalling reaction in the stone?TOP
A: No, the water is just to cool the internal combustion chamber, it has nothing to do with the actual reaction. It is the high velocity and intense heat that cause the instant spalling reaction.

Q: Do I need to wet the stone?TOP
A: It is good idea to wet the stone using the return water from the discharge hose before, during and after flaming. This is to ensure that the stone does not overheat.

Q: How much water do I need to run the Jetstik?TOP
A: You will need 40 psi of water, about a gallon per minute. You can hook the Jetstik upto a standard garden hose spicket.

Q: Can I flame 3/8” tile and can I flame it after it has been grouted in?TOP
A: Yes, you can flame 3/8” granite tile. You should use a lot of water on it in order to keep it from overheating. It is best to flame the tile prior to installation in case the tile fractures, also the velocity and intense heat may cause the grout setting to
loosen up.

Q: Will this polish stone?TOP
A: No, but the Jetstik is much more faster to shape and remove saw cuts with than it would be to grind them, allowing for a flatter surface to start the polishing process.

Q: What are the safety features of the Jetstik?TOP
A: Fitted within the hose bundle is a safety valve that detects if there is enough water pressure. If there is not enough water pressure the valve for the Propane will not open, thus the stick will not light. this is to ensure that the stick will not overheat and melt in you hands.

Q: How does the switch work?TOP
A: The Jetstik is euipped with a quick light switch that allows for simplified lighting. Just move the switch from the “Off” position to the “Ignite” position and strike the striker at the end of the stick. Once a large flame appears then slowly move the switch to the “Run” position. You should hear a loud pop noise and the flame will go from a large orange flame to a small pen size blue flame. This is known as “back lighting”.

A: 70 psi for the Oxygen and 40 psi for the Propane. This allows for optimum performance of the Jetstik.
